Youth Corner

"Out of the mouth of babes". The following writings have been submitted by the youth department. You are reading the articles as written. Each month we will asks our Sunday school children simple questions. Each child has or will submit their response. As they are received, we will post the responses. We encourage our youth to speak straight from the heart and not be afraid to share their thoughts and ideas. They are the children of the church today and the future leaders of tomorrow.

Question: what does being a Christian means to you?

Response:

Being a Christian

by Brittney D. (age 13)

Being a Christian is an important part of my life. I am a member of Springfield Baptist Church located in Washington, Georgia. At Springfield we are taught that being a good Christian requires faith, a good heart, and an open mind.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:17, KJV). People of God should know that God will take care of you and that all things are possible. People should not worry about things and we should pray and have faith.

Having a good heart means that you are willing to give to others and contribute to your community. God made a promise to us stating that God would give us a new heart, and a new spirit within you; God will take the heart of stone out of you and give you a heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26, KJV).

Being open minded means that you are open to new ideas and challenges. The Bible gives you instructions on how to go through life but we have to be the one to follow them.

Being a good Christian requires a lot of work but God will never give you more than you can handle. By having faith, a good heart and an open mind we can be faithful servants in the eyes of the Lord.
